All Purpose You

I opened my pantry, ready to pull out ingredients to start preparing dinner; but my eyes lingered
on my “All-Purpose flour”. It said on the label: “Use for pies, bread, biscuits, rolls, etc.” At that
moment, insight sparked within me — All-Purpose flour can serve many purposes, so what
about an “All-Purpose you” and an “All-Purpose me”? This thought instantly reminded me of
Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” When the Apostle
Paul made this statement he was not referring to being a Jack of all trades and master of none.
He simply emphasized that his ability to walk on purpose, overcome challenges, endure
hardship, live a contented life, and accomplish his assignment is not rooted in his strength but in
the power of Christ who strengthens him. That means he can do all that God has called him to
do.

You and I are like this All-Purpose flour, we can do much for the kingdom of God. But just like
the All-purpose flour, we can not make all the delicacies alone. Ingredients like butter, milk,
water, salt, sugar, yeast, and eggs have to be incorporated to achieve the desired purpose. This
shows the power of the community to walk a purposeful life. The All-Purpose flour is versatile
and resilient, it is a binding agent, it rises when yeast is added to it, and it passes through some
rigorous processes, and atmosphere to produce the desired outcome.

The All-Purpose you is also versatile, and endowed with potential to grow, learn, and be
productive. All-purpose you is a binding agent that helps bring people together through
kindness, love, forgiveness, wisdom, friendship, and hospitality. Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the
peacemakers for they will be called children of God. You are resilient and the circumstances you
encounter only help you become a better version of yourself.

The All-purpose you is crafted by God to serve in a multitude of ways, whether as a teacher, mother, father, writer, chef, preacher or even as light in the world. You were designed for greater use, and your true value comes out when you allow yourself to be used, sifted, molded, kneaded, and baked by the master chef himself. So, embrace the versatility of the many purposes that God has called you to be. You are the light of the world a city set on a hill cannot be hidden, you were made to shine, feed many, and bring glory to God. So, go and shine forth.
